Quotes:
  • I lived [in Irvine], but I never felt totally accepted as one of these rich white suburban kids. I wasn't economically deprived like so many of my Chicano brothers and sisters, but I felt the tension and the rejection--and that's when I started getting into hip-hop, started break-dancing. `The Message,' `Rapper's Delight,' Run-DMC...that was what was happening around that time. (Zack de la Rocha)
  • We are committed to continuing with our efforts to effect change in the social and political arena and look forward to creating more ground-breaking music for our fans. In other words, we'll keep it loud, keep it funky and most definitely rock on. (Tom Morello)
  • Rage Against the Machine is not a stranger to controversy.
  • Anger is a gift. (Zack de la Rocha)

Rage Against the Machine Trivia

  • Rage is often credited with inventing the nu metal genre.
  • The full line-up of Rage was Zack de la Rocha (vocals), Tom Morello (guitars), Brad Wilk (drums), Tim Commerford (bass).
  • De la Rocha borrowed the name from Kent McClard of Ebullition Records while in a hardcore band named Inside Out, the band having recorded a song by that name.
  • Zack de la Rocha left the band between the release of The Battle of Los Angeles and the release of Renegades, though the latter features his vocals.
