Donald Sutherland Trivia By the time he was 14, he had become a radio DJ. Was a member of "UC Follies" comedy troupe in Toronto. Even though he receives top billing in The Day of the Locust (1975), he doesn't appear in the film for the first 42 minutes. Starred in the remake of The Italian Job (1969), which starred Michael Caine. Sutherland and Caine appeared together in Hamlet (1964/III) (TV). In 2003, twice played a character who dies who was the father of a young woman, in Cold Mountain (2003) and The Italian Job (2003).
